Chris Mellon joined Burton Kelley, LLP in 2025 as an Associate Attorney. He brings over a decade of litigation experience, including extensive trial work in both criminal defense and civil proceedings.

Mr. Mellon began his legal career in Illinois, where he worked as a public defender in Champaign County and handled a wide range of cases. He has first-chaired jury trials and is a skilled advocate. Mr. Mellon is part of Burton Kelley’s insurance defense practice, where he focuses on using his trial and motion skills to achieve strong, strategic outcomes for clients.

Mr. Mellon earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2009, where he was a member of the Law Review and received honors in legal writing and legal research courses. He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science from North Carolina State University.

Mr. Mellon enjoys running, ultimate frisbee, cooking, and spending time with family.
