Professional Summary

Michael joined Burton Kelley, LLP as a Senior Associate in 2024, bringing with him 25 years of litigation experience. He grew up in British Columbia, Canada and achieved his first degree, a Bachelor of Commerce, from the University of British Columbia. He went on to law school, earning his first law degree from the University of Victoria, in Victoria, British Columbia (the highest ranked law school in Canada while he attended). Then, after a break year spent backpacking through Australia, he earned a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) from the University of San Diego School of Law, from which he graduated cum laude.

Mr. Vachon’s considerable experience includes litigating civil appeals and writs, first-party insurance disputes, breach of warranty claims, class-action lawsuits, lawsuits involving rescission, as well as claims brought under California’s Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, Automobile Sales Finance Act, Vehicle Leasing Act, and the federal Truth in Lending Act.

Michael is admitted to practice in all California state courts, the U.S. District Courts for the North, South, and Central Districts of California, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.
