Professional Summary

Samantha Yu joined Burton Kelley, LLP in 2023 as an Associate Attorney. Ms. Yu received her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law in May 2017 with cum laude. Prior to law school, she worked as a legal assistant for a boutique healthcare law firm in Los Angeles. Before then, she graduated from UCLA with a major in Economics and a minor in Philosophy.

In law school, Ms. Yu was Articles Editor of the San Diego Law Review and won the 2015-2016 United States Court of Federal Claims Bar Association Law Student Writing Competition. She held internships at public agencies such as the San Diego County Counsel’s Office, San Diego District Attorney’s Office, and the San Diego Superior Court – Family Law Facilitator’s Office. Additionally, she externed for the Honorable Christopher B. Latham (now Chief Judge) in the United States Southern District Bankruptcy Court.

Ms. Yu has experience in civil litigation. She has handled cases in insurance bad faith, construction defects, financial elder abuse, business contract disputes, habitability, and disputes over real estate purchase and sale agreements. She has represented clients in class action and on appeal.
